Description: Јединица за Специјалне Операције основана је 1996. године. Била је саставни део Ресора Државне Безбедности МУП-a Републике Србије. За седиште Јединице изабрана је Кула. За команданта Јединице постављен је Милорад Улемек Легија, прекаљени ратник, бивши припадник француске Легије Странаца и официр Српске Добровољачке Гарде. У састав ЈСО су ушли део бивших припадника Книнџи, Вукова и ЈАТД и део из цивилства који никада није имао додира са Јединицом. Сви они су прошли ригорозне безбедносне провере, здравствене и психофизичке прегледе. Командант никада није новчано казнио припадника. Као бивши Легионар знао је у душу војника и да радимо за ту плату. Такође није кажњавао ни узимањем слободних дана, јер су припадници боравком у Кули ионако били скоро стално ван својих домова. Захваљујући таквој обуци, духу који је владао у Јединици и осећању припадности нечем тако узвишеном, као што је била најелитнија Србска јединица, створени су припадници који су извршавали беспоговорно, свако наређење.
