Description: The song "Moonlight Sonata" was purchased through the royalty free music sight AllMusicLibrary. What a beautiful night for a full moon/eclipse. Long Beach, Calif. was clear as a bell all night making it a great night for taking pictures. I had never taken pictures of an eclipse so it was definitely an experiment but I'm extremely happy with the end result. It was worth an entire night without sleep. Thank you Mt. Dew. This was made with a Canon EOS Rebel SLR camera with a 300 mm zoom lense. I took a picture every 20 seconds from 12:53 am pdt to 6:21 am pdt. The ISO was 1600 with f6.3. The shutter speed started at 1/4000 at the full moon. It was progressively increased to 1 second per picture at total eclipse and then reversed back as the moon became full again. A funny note is that when the moon starts to come out from the Earth's shadow, the video gets a little blurry for a few seconds. That's because the lense filter started to fog up with the morning dew so I had to continually remove and wipe it off the remainder of the night to keep it clear. |

synamis ::: Favorites Thank you for filming and editing this eclipse with such care and then sharing it with everyone. i had originally intended on watching the eclipse as it happened, but my baby boy derailed my plans by deciding he wanted to be born in the middle of it. :) i plan on showing him this clip when he gets old enough to appreciate the coincidence of his birth. 07-09-04 06:55:27 __________________________________________________
synamis ::: Favorites Lunar eclipses usually happen at least twice a year, but aren't necessarily seen everywhere when they do occur. (For example, this eclipse couldn't be seen in Africa, parts of western Asia, etc.) However, this particular eclipse was the longest one in 7 years. 07-09-04 06:47:45 __________________________________________________
